Why we use Friction drive

Simplicity of construction is the greatest advantage of a friction-drive system. Installing a friction-drive motor is simple: You merely attach it to the bicycle's frame, above the rear tire, in such a way that the motor's drive shaft makes contact with the tire. This layout also makes it simple to remove the motor or the bike tires whenever you need to do maintenance or change a flat. Also SAFTEY frist because on our friction kit there is no belt or chain to get stuck and when that happens on chain drive bike you will go from 30-0 in a couple of seconds.

The addition of extra moving parts means that a chain drive bike is more likely to break down than a friction drive. The chain connection is also considerably more complicated to install and maintain. In addition to adding a sprocket to one of the tires for the motor to utilize, you may have to adjust the chain length to fit your bicycle and add a chain tensioner to keep the drive chain from slipping off its sprockets. Also most importantly most of the chain drive kits come from china and are very unreliable.

                                  How it works                                    

 On The friction drive system the engineis on the left side and is propelled by a diamond knurled drive roller that locks on the top of your tire. The drive roller firmly grips your tire when locked in the "drive position". When locked in the "off position", the drive roller rests slightly off the tire. The drive roller is locked on and off the tire in seconds by simply sliding the unit up or down the slotted rear support bars and then locking the quick release lever. BMW motorrad has launched their brand new bike called R1200GS. It was launched worldwide from 2004 onwards, but it will be in Indian market from May 2011. The expected price of this machine is Rs. 15, 00,000/-.

The bike weighs around 203 kg with dimensions 2210x915x1450mm. It also got a fuel tank capacity of 17.5 litres. The wheelbase is of 1495mm and it also got a 720w three phase electric phase accelerator. The headlamp is of halogen, which provides a clear vision. According to the company, the bike has got a maintenance free 12v battery with capacity 14Ah. The BMW R 1200GS Bike in India also got alloy wheels with wheel size 110/80 R 19 - 150/70 R 17 mm. The central console looks very classy in appearance with its digital fuel gauge, analogue tachometer, digital trip meter and digital speedometer. There are separate indicators to display low fuel, low oil, low battery, high oil temperature and choked air filter just like a motor car.

The R1200GS is having a BMW motorrad Teveler suspension in the front and cast aluminium single-sided swing arm suspension in the rear. It is also having twin disc brakes of 305mm and 265mm at the front and rear respectively.

The BMW R1200GS has got and 1170cc engine with a maximum power of 110bhp at 7750rpm and also providing maximum torque of 120Nm at 6000rpm. From this it is understood that, it is going to be a power bike. The gears are of 6 speeds and that also manual drive. The clutch is single dry plate clutch which seems different from other BMW bikes. The bore to stroke rate is 101 and 73 respectively. The engine is liquid cooled.

Indian riders were really obsessed with mileage providing commuter bike for long time. But, now they are behind muscular bikes with more power and torque. There are many other companies like Kawasaki, Honda, Aprilia and even Mahindra are getting ready to launch their power bikes as well as the sports bike s in to the Indian roads. Comparing with the earlier times, the riders in the nation right now are youngsters and they mainly seek powerful bikes with more pickup, thunderous sounds and good speed. So the company hopes that the bike at the sate of a car will not be a problem in the nation.
